Our school day
The school doors open at 08:50. We ask that children are not left at school unattended before this time please. All children enter the school through the side door which can be accessed by following the path around the edge of the school building apart from children in the Starfish class, who enter their playground through the little wooden gate.
There is always an activity or task ready for the children to complete to help settle them and say goodbye to their carer quickly and quietly. This makes for a really positive start to the day for all involved!
Registration is at 09:05. Anyone coming into school beyond this time needs to enter the school via the front entrance so that their child can be signed in correctly. This is incredibly important to keep them and everyone else safe if there were an emergency.
School finishes at 15:30. The children are brought out by a class teacher or member of school staff and wait with the children until they can see who they are going home with. Children not collected within 10 minutes of the end of school sit in the school library until they can be collected. After 15 minutes, we will put them into After School Club for which there will be a small charge.
Don't forget to tell us if someone different is picking your child up!
Food and drink
We offer hot school meals at Durweston which can be ordered in advance using the link to the side. Currently, ALL Reception and Key Stage 1 children (Reception, year 1 and year 2), can benefit from free school meals under a government initiative. Every child in these year groups is included in the hot school meals orders unless parents have contacted the office to opt out. You can still choose from three options in the same way as paying parents. More details can be found on the Local Food Links button.
For those children who bring in a lunchbox, please note that we encourage a healthy, balanced meal and are a nut free school. The children have water cups and jugs on the table at lunch so it is not necessary to send them in with a lunchtime drink. Please do not send in juice or squash. We would also prefer it if chocolate bars were a biscuit or wafer type. No sweets please.
